ORCHARD PARK, NY- Maple Grove is headed to the New York State semifinals after beating Alexander 28-0 Friday evening at New Era Field in the Class D Far West Regionals.

The Red Dragons scored once in the second quarter, again in the third quarter and added two fourth quarter touchdowns to really put the game away.

Brad Benson led Maple Grove with 171 yards rushing on 26 carries. Trevor Micek had 15 carries for 63 yards. Micek and Benson each had an interception.

Benson and Micek each had two touchdown runs. Benson scored from 12 and 39 yards out and Micek touchdown runs of 6 and 4 yards.

Maple Grove had 219 yards of total offense. Alexander was held to 142 yards of offense.

Maple Grove moves into the New York State semifinals next weekend at Cicero North high school in Syracuse.
