BUFFALO, NY- 3 teams were crowned Section 6 champions Wednesday night at Buffalo State College. Fredonia, Amherst and Clarence all winning the titles. All 3 games were live streamed on wgrz.com. Clarence 34 Frontier 31
Frontier led early then the Falcons suffered through a tough second quarter that scored them score only two points, both on free throws. Alyssa Lorka led Frontier with 11 points. Frontier had a chance to tie but a 3 point shot by Claire Kruska wouldn't fall and the Red Devils had their Section 6 championship. Carly Reynolds led Clarence with 15 points.
Amherst 63 Wiliamsville South 47
Amherst took an early lead against South and never looked back as the Tigers win the Section 6 championship. 8th grader Emma Klein keyed the great start for Amherst that they rode to the win. Klein with 13 points. Senior Claire Wanzer, who will play college basketball for Niagara led the Tigers with 20 points. South 8th grader Amari DeBerry led all scorers with 23 points. Senior Zaria McCullough finished with 13 for the BIllies.
Fredonia 53 Wilson 47
Hannah Cybart led Fredonia with 27 points. Cybart with a great all around game for the Hillbillies. Rachel Senek led Wilson with 24 points. Senek was 16 for 16 from the free throw line.
Fredonia, Amherst and Clarence all return to Buffalo State for the Far West Regionals this coming Saturday March 11.
