For the season he accounted for 2383 yards and 21 touchdowns. For his career, the senior completed 569 passes in 1097 attempts for 7639 yards and 78 touchdowns. He also rushed for 484 yards and 14 touchdowns. Total offense in his career with the Red Raiders was 8123 yards and 92 touchdowns. In his career, he established 4 WNY passing records.

Canisius will play Cardinal Hayes from Bronx, NY on Sunday December 4th at 1pm at the Fordham University campus for the state Catholic High School Athletic Association championship. The Cardinals defeated Archbishop Stepinac 41-39 in the playoffs after losing to them 45-24 in week 3. The Cardinals average 45 points and the Crusader defense will have to be at their best if they are to bring home another state championship.

Isaiah McDuffie - Player of the Year for 2016

Isaiah McDuffie, Bennett senior RB/LB was selected as the 45th recipient of the Connolly Cup at a banquet Saturday at Ilio DiPaolos Restaurant. The senior led his team to a sectional Class A title and a 8-3 record by rushing for 1531 yards, 21 touchdowns, and recording 111 tackles.

The Tiger was also named the recipient of the Buffalo News Player of the Year. He was also one of the few players ever to be selected to the Buffalo News First Team All-WNY in 3 consecutive years. Isaiah scored 70 touchdowns in his career which is the 5th best in WNY and also rushed for 5529 yards which is the 3rd best. His 420 points is 20 points better than his uncle and coach Ted McDuffie who scored 400 points from 1989-1992.

Name Emer Wins Trench Trophy

Nate Emer, Iroquois senior DL/OL, was selected as the 14th recipient of the Trench Trophy which goes to the top lineman in WNY. The Chief was selected over 11 other finalists.

Emer was a 4 year starter, all-league and first team All-WNY DL. He recorded 55 tackles and 12 sacks and led his team to the playoffs. The senior desires to continue to play football at the collegiate level and several schools have been recruiting him.

Underclassmen awards were also presented to Jeremiah Sanders, Timon/St. Jude and Tariq Whitaker, Cheektowaga.

The awards were presented on December 7th at the annual Trench Trophy banquet. The event was excellent. Carl Juras and Ed Sciera and the Trench committee are to be congratulated for a job well done.
