KENMORE, NY- A huge crowd packed the stands at St. Joe's Saturday afternoon as the Marauders hosted arch rival Canisius. The ending wasn't what the Marauders and their fans were hoping for as Canisius rolled to the 27-6 win.
The Crusaders had two long touchdown runs called back by penalties as both teams drew plenty of laundry during the game. Kenyatta Huston had touchdown runs of 80 and 53 yards. He only carried the ball four times, but he made them all count as he was the game's leading ruhser with 142 yards.
The teams combined for 27 penalties for a total of 260 yards.
The Canisius defense was dominant. The Crusaders with 9 sacks and Marauders players were tackled for losses more than 10 times.
Sophomore quarterback Casey Kelly scored the only touchdown for St. Joe's. He ran for a 53 yard touchdown on a 4th and 7 play. Kelly ran for 69 yards on 6 carries and was 8 for 12 passes for 47 yards.
Canisius remains unbeaten at 7-0. St. Joe's drops to 2-5 on the season.
