AMHERST, NY - You know the high school football season is officially, completely over, when the last award is handed out. The final awards for the 2017 season were handed out Saturday afternoon at Classics Banquet and Conference Center on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst.

Dick Gallagher has put the affair on for 31 consecutive years. 202 awards were given out this year.

Emcee John Murphy also gave Gallagher an award.

It was a banner year for high school football with Section VI, sweeping Section V in the Far West Regionals and West Seneca West winning a state championship. Canisius, from the Monsignor Martin League played in the state Catholic championship game for the second straight year.
