Former Cheektowaga star Dominick Welch signs with Bonnies

Dominick Welch signs his letter of intent to play college basketball at St. Bonaventure.

CHEEKTOWAGA, NY — In 2017 Dominick Welch was a unanimous choice for the Western New York Player of the Year. He set a new all-time scoring record, breaking the one set by Ritchie Campbell. Welch scored 2,376 points in his high school career. Campbell's record stood for 27 years.

Welch spent the last year at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Friday he signed his letter of intent to play college basketball at St. Bonaventure.

He knows with Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley no longer playing for the Bonnies he has a great opportunity to make an impact as a freshman.

Welch set all kinds of records at Cheektowaga, including most points in a game (51) most points in a season (688) and most rebounds in a season (268). He also has the career record for rebounds in a career with 1,200.

The 6-foot-6 Welch can shoot the three and drive to the basket.
