BUFFALO, NY - Both the men's and women's basketball teams are coming off very successful seasons. Both won the MAC championship to advance to the NCAA tournament.

2016-2017 UB Women's basketball:

The women are once again led by Felisha Jack in her fifth season as head coach. The Bulls are coming off a season that saw their first MAC title in program history with a thrilling win over Central Michigan. Stephanie Reid hit the game-winning jumper as time expired. UB lost to Ohio State in the NCAA tournament.

There are many familiar faces on this UB team. Coach Jack returns all five starters led by Reid and Joanna Smith. Both were named to the preseason All-MAC East team.

Smith is coming off her most impressive season. She was the most improved scorer in the nation from her sophomore to junior year. As a sophomore, she averaged 5.6 points per game and soared to 18.3 last year.

The Bulls were picked to finish second in the MAC East and open the season on Friday, November 11 at home against UMass. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

2016-2017 UB Men's basketball:

The Bulls begin year two of the Nate Oats Era. In his first year as head coach, Oats led UB to their second straight MAC championship. Just like the women, the men's MAC title game also game down to the wire. Blake Hamilton hit the game-winning three-pointer with two seconds left to beat Akron. The Bulls then lost to Miami in the NCAA tournament.

UB now looks to become the first team to win three straight MAC titles.

Despite winning the conference title, the Bulls are predicted to finish third in the MAC East while Hamilton was the only player selected to the preseason All-MAC team.

Hamilton is the team's returning leading scorer and rebounder averaging 13.7 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.

The Bulls open the season at Niagara on Friday, November 11th at 8 p.m.
