BUFFALO, NY- On the final day of Sabres development camp Sabres GM Jason Botterill was asked about the contract the Edmonton Oilers gave to Connor McDavid. He answered the question then provided an update on the the Sabres talks with Jack Eichel.

"To be able to get a contract done from a star player, a player who is part of the organization, face of the organization, is great for our league and Connor had an amazing season. And I'm sure the people in Edmonton are very excited about having him under contract. Been through some of those discussions before, whenever did Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, you're excited to get an elite player under contract. Our conversations with Jack and the group have gone extremely well. We'll continue those throughout the summer here and see if we can find a common ground because from our standpoint we certainly want to get something done and from everything we've heard from Jack and his agents they want to get something done too."

Botterill said there's no deal in the works for Sam Reinhart. He said "he's under contract so we'll see how it plays out." He said he hope to get something done with goaltender Robin Lehner before his arbitration hearing on July 27.
