INDIANAPOLIS- The Buffalo Bisons prevented a series sweep on Wednesday afternoon when they took down Indianapolis at Victory Field, 3-1, after a two-run double from Roemon Fields.

Setting up the Herd's scores through Fields' double, Mike Ohlman, Shane Opitz, and Jason Leblebijian all batted singles in consecutive at bats to load the bases. Fields then stepped up to the plate and took the first Drew Hutchison (L, 6-8) pitch he saw and sent a grounder to left field, giving the Herd an early 2-0 advantage by scoring Ohlman and Opitz.

Adding an insurance run to the table was Jake Elmore in the final inning of the day. Elmore batted a solo home run just past the wall in left field to give the Herd a 3-1 edge.

Despite only finishing the day with three runs, the Herd out batted the Indians 13-1 and had several opportunities to run the score up even more. In both the fifth and seventh innings respectively, the Bisons had the bases loaded before untimely third outs.

The Indians' lone run of the day came after a pair of walks and a force out in the fifth frame. With Phil Gosselin on third, Eric Wood batted a pitch to Bisons left fielder Jake Elmore for a sac fly to trim Indianapolis' deficit to one run.

Murphy Smith had the spot start for the Bisons. With a solid four innings of work, Smith yielded just one run off of a hit and delivered four strikeouts.
