"Not true" says Cuomo about report of White House aspirations

Despite continuing to say he won't run for the White House, Governor Cuomo was named in an Associated Press article as among the potential Democratic candidates courting party activists in Iowa.

Buffalo — “Not true.”

That’s what Governor Andrew Cuomo says about an Associated Press report that says he’s been reaching out to Iowa Democrats in possible preparation for a 2020 White House bid.

Cuomo has long been thought to have presidential ambitions. Today, during a visit to Buffalo to hand out Thanksgiving turkeys to the needy, Cuomo told reporters he was not interested in run.

”I just won election as governor. Thank you, people of the state of New York. I’m working to be the best governor I can be. And that’s all I’m working on,” said Cuomo.

The AP article was written by veteran Iowa political reporter Thomas Beaumont. And it describes precisely the type of necessary courting political operatives that a successful Iowa campaign requires.
