AMHERST, N.Y. -- An Erie County Water Authority spokesperson says a water main break could affect traffic in Amherst on the I-290.
The state Department of Transportation (DOT) reported around noon that a mile marker struck the water line, causing a leak, says ECWA spokesperson Sean Dwyer. Traffic is impacted on the I-290 Eastbound between Main Street and the I-90.
Dwyer says "shovels will hit the dirt" to fix the break around 2 p.m. and drivers should be aware that this could affect rush hour traffic. He also said customer water pressure and service should not be affected by the break.
