LEWISTON, N.Y. -- A fun new feature is coming to Saint Peter Roman Catholic School in Lewiston.
The school broke ground Monday on a new playground, according to a news release.
One child per grade was selected via a lottery to participate in the digging.
“It’s been a longstanding hope of the school to have a playground for the kids,” said Monsignor David LiPuma, who noted that enrollment at the school will climb to about 200 students in September. “Soon, our children will have a safe and beautiful place to play and get exercise.”
The $30,000 project was made possible mostly through private donors and the school's playground committee.
Work is scheduled to officially begin once kids are home for the summer and it will be compete by the first week of the school year, in a few months.
