BUFFALO, NY-- A very small earthquake occurred Friday morning six miles southwest of Port Colburne, Ontario; under Lake Erie.
The earthquake registered a 2.1 on the Richter scale. which is an earthquake that very few were likely able to feel.
Small earthquakes in this region are not terribly uncommon. There are numerous faults that crisscross the region and small earthquakes do occur here from time to time.
A couple of times a decade there may be an earthquake strong enough to feel in this region but one that is unlikely to do any damage.
