LOCKPORT, N.Y. - One day after University of Rochester quarterback Daniel Bronson had a 60-yard touchdown run, he did something heroic in his hometown. The former Lockport High School athlete came to the aid of an elderly woman who was the victim of a purse snatching.

Bronson was leaving Cammarata's Restaurant on Robinson Road with his girlfriend and her family. While in the parking lot, he saw a guy "yank a purse" out of the arms of an 73-year old woman. Bronson chased the suspect down, in the midst of the chase, the suspect identified as Matthew Biles, 31, of Lockport, dropped the purse.

"It's just kind of a disgusting act to really do something like that to an elderly woman, an elderly person, let alone a woman, especially someone walking with a cane," said Bronson.

Bronson got help from his girlfriend's father Patrick Ellinger Jr. and brother Patrick Ellinger III. The New York State Police will be hosting a Citizen Recognition Awards on Friday at 10:00 a.m. for the bravery of three men.

Biles remains in jail. He is charged with robbery.
