BUFFALO, N.Y. -- West Seneca and Buffalo Police responded to the scene of a rollover crash Tuesday at Cazenovia and Abbott Road, near Mercy Hospital.
West Seneca Police confirmed they pursued three suspects in a chase, which led to the crash. They also said all three suspects are in custody. The chase started after the suspects tried to pass fraudulent checks at the M&T Bank branch. Part of Abbott Road was temporarily blocked off.
Police say they found a large amount of money, disguises and drugs in the suspects' car.
"We have three suspects in custody," said West Seneca Lt. David Szmania "We're trying to assert their ID. We recovered a large amount of money in the vehicle. There's some disguises in the vehicle. And there's also some drugs that we recovered."
Their names have not been released. Investigators say all appear to reside outside New York State and are believed to be part of a large-scale operation using fraudulent checks and identity theft to steal money from multiple banks in the Western New York region.
All three and the driver of another vehicle involved were taken to the Erie County Medical Center, Szmania said. There were no serious injuries.
