BUFFALO, NY - A pilot project by the Erie County's Social Services Department (ECDSS) is aimed at making it easier for those with family and work responsibilities to get the help they need.
Starting March 22, and continuing for six weeks, the 158 Pearl St. location will be open past the routine closing time of 4 P.M. and extend until 6 P.M.
Services available will include: general information about ECDSS services, obtaining benefit cards, dropping off or picking up paperwork, application for SNAP benefits and other matters. Medicaid services are not included in this test project.
"We recognize that our clients often have commitments to work and family during normal work hours," said Acting Commissioner Marie Cannon. "This pilot will allow us to be more responsive to our clients' needs. Client response to this pilot will determine whether or not we continue extended hours past the initial pilot period of six weeks."
