BUFFALO, N.Y. - Paving on Pearl Street in downtown Buffalo is now complete, and the road is open to two-way traffic.

Buffalo Department of Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak says crews completed painting the lines on the road around 4:30 a.m. Friday, just in time for the morning traffic. Bike lanes and street parking were also added to the street.

The two-way conversion runs from Tupper Street to Lower Terrace Street which should alleviate some of the traffic woes from Harborcenter and Canalside.

"What this is going to do is allow increased accessibility to these areas as downtown develops," said Stepniak. "The need to get to certain locations is at a higher demand than ever before."

Stepniak said further traffic studies could be conducted to convert other one-way streets into two-way.
