NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- New York State Park Police are asking boaters and jet skiers to remember to stay away from restricted areas above Niagara Falls.
Police say already this year, between May 29 and July 16, there have been nine incidents involving boats and jet skis that ignored warning buoys and signage in the Upper Niagara River, near the New York State Power Authority water intakes.
Police say those who violate these signs will face charges by state or federal authorities. They also say those operating water craft are responsible for knowing about natural and man-made hazards when out on the water.
