Paralysis recovery center to open in Cheektowaga

The Motion Project Foundation formerly known as the Wheels with Wings Foundation says it plans to open a new paralysis recovery center in Cheektowaga.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A nonprofit organization that helps people recover from spinal cord injuries says it aims to open a first of its kind facility in Western New York.

The Motion Project Foundation formerly known as the Wheels with Wings Foundation says it plans to open a new paralysis recovery center in Cheektowaga. It will offer state of the art equipment, new therapy techniques, and plenty of professionals to help anyone recovering from injuries of the spine and other neurological disabilities.

"This is going to be something really amazing in WeStern New York. It's going to change a lot of lives," said Natalie Barnhard with the Motion Project Foundation. "We're going to get people not only in this community, but nationwide that can come here and receive so many benefits from it."

The foundation says it is still in need of funding for the project, but aims to open sometime next spring.
