One person dies in Niagara Falls fire

The fire broke out on Weston Avenue, west of Hyde Park Boulevard.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — One person died Friday night in a fire in Niagara Falls.

Fire Chief Joe Pedulla said the person died in a blaze in the 2200 block of Weston Avenue, west of Hyde Park Boulevard.

Pedulla said the upon arrival, crews witnessed heavy smoke coming from both the first and second floors of the house. Once firefighters entered the house, they found a person near the front door.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
