NIAGARA FALLS, NY — It's really a remarkable milestone and turnaround for the Niagara County SPCA.
The shelter is celebrating the rehoming of its 10,000th animal. Since the shelter enacted a no-kill mission five years ago, 10,000 animals have been adopted, which is about five animals per day.
"We all came in after the scandal, for lack of a better word. There were a few too many euthanzations going on here. At that point, we decided to pursue a no kill mission," said Bob Richardson, SPCA President of the Board of Directors. "This 10,000th adoption is a true testament to to the work of the staff and volunteers that have supported us. We would not be here without all of that support."
