Meeting on Marijuana Business Plans held Saturday

As the state of New York moves closer to potential legalization of recreational marijuana, a seminar Saturday aimed to help better prepare people to take part in emerging business opportunities.

BUFFALO, NY - As the state of New York moves closer to potential legalization of recreational marijuana, a seminar Saturday aimed to help better prepare people to take part in emerging business opportunities.

The"Cannabiz 101 Community Convo" meeting is based on the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act, which State Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes is sponsoring to assist in the legalization process for state lawmakers.

2 On Your Side was asked not to shoot video of Saturday's meeting, but we were able to speak to Peoples-Stokes' Chief of Staff, Mark Boyd, who told us, "People are gonna be inquiring about various opportunities in terms of jobs, in terms of business, opportunities. What else can be done in order to prepare themselves both financially, academically, educationally? Trying to look and see what sort of experience most businesses are looking for."

A public meeting on the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act is set for Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Buffalo City Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall.
