LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- A Lockport man has been charged after robbing two elderly women, causing serious injuries to one who is 87-years-old.

Friday, Matthew Biles, 41, of Lockport allegedly pushed the 87-year-old woman to the ground while she went into a business off Robinson Road in the Town of Lockport, State Police say. The women suffered a broken left arm, a possible fractured nose and bruises. Police say Biles took the women's purse with her I.D.'s, credit cards and cash.

Saturday, Biles allegedly took the purse of a 73-year-old woman who was leaving the same business off Robinson Road.

Three young men who saw the robbery chased Biles. They then held him down until police arrived.

Biles' charges include 1st and third-degree robbery, both felonies.

Biles has been arraigned in the Town of Lockport Court. He was then sent to the Niagara County Jail on $50,000 bail.
