CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. - A fire broke out at a church in the City of Tonawanda Sunday morning, burning the cross on the outside of the building.

A viewer sent 2 On Your Side video from the scene, showing the cross ablaze at Bethesda Full Gospel Tabernacle on 8 Delaware Street. The cross then detached from the building as crews hosed it off.

The City of Tonawanda Fire Department says the call came in at 9 a.m., but was under control quickly. The flames were contained to the outside of the building, and crews found no evidence of damage inside.

No one was injured, and the church still held service Sunday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials noting it appeared to be an electrical issue. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
