WILLIAMSVILLE, NY — A special tribute was made for fallen Buffalo Police officer Craig Lehner on Saturday's Veterans Day.

The tribute was made inside Russell Salvatore's Patriots and Heroes Park.

A number of veterans were joined by Naval Sea Cadets, Boy Scouts and this year it included the family of Officer Lehner and fellow members of the Buffalo Police department.

A wreath was presented to honor his memory from the Oct. 17th diving accident which took his life, but also called attention to his service as an Army National Guard veteran in Iraq.

"It has helped us, truly, truly helped us," said Donna Wilson, Lehner's sister. "We just can't say enough about everybody. I mean those who have reached out to me that knew Craig personally, those that have had encounters with him once or twice. And even those that have never met him but they were honored by what a man he was and the service that he provided."

The program also served to raise funding for the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic at the Batavia VA Medical Center, which many veterans use for treatment because of what they endured in combat and military service.
