CHEEKTOWAGA, NY — A Genesee County man was caught carrying a loaded handgun Friday afternoon at the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport.
The TSA detained the 57-year-old Bergen man and issued him a violation. NFTA Police officers say he did have a valid permit for the weapon.
"We want to remind individuals who bring firearms to the checkpoint that they are subject to possible criminal charges," said NFTA Police Chief George Gast.
The TSA says a typical first offense for carrying a handgun into a checkpoint is $3,900.
