TOWN OF LEROY, N.Y. -- Five people, most from Buffalo, were injured in an accident Saturday night on the I-90 in the Town of LeRoy.

Buffalo State Police say they received a call about the accident at 11:28 p.m.

A 2016 Kia was traveling westbound on the I-90 when it swerved to miss hitting a deer that dashed into the roadway. The vehicle did strike the deer, however. It then crossed over the roadway's median and ran into a tractor trailer traveling eastbound.

Three people had to be transported from the scene by Mercy Flight, officials say. An ambulance transported the other passengers from the scene. All were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Officials have not revealed the identities of the passengers involved. They also say no charges have been filed.
