A house fire in Blasdell has left a family of eight displaced.

BLASDELL, N.Y. - A house fire in Blasdell has left a family of eight displaced.

Chad Locher, Chief of Newton Abbott Fire Company, told 2 On Your Side that the fire started just after 6 p.m. on Salem Road Sunday evening.

Chief Locher says the fire started on the first floor, and then burned through the second floor.

Firefighters say everyone got out of the home safely. There were two adults, six children and two dogs in the home at the time of the fire.

Roberta Murawski, is the mother to one of the homeowners, was also in the house when the fire broke out. Murawski told us that everything is a total loss, and is asking for the public's help in assisting the family.

Red Cross is also assisting the family.
