BUFFALO, N.Y. — Does your pet need a rabies vaccine? Don't fret, the Erie County Department of Health is holding a free rabies vaccination clinic on Wednesday.

You can bring your indoor and outdoor cats, your dogs and ferrets to the North Buffalo Community Center located at 203 Sanders Road, off Colvin Boulevard.

The clinic goes from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you can't make this one, don't worry, additional clinics will be scheduled for the spring and fall. Those dates have not been announced at this time.

“If you own a dog, indoor or outdoor cat or ferret that is due for a rabies vaccination, please plan to come to this event,” Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said. “This is an important public health initiative, and we will be announcing future dates for spring and fall clinics in the new year.”

Anyone bringing their pet to this event should make sure your pet is in a carrier or is secure in a collar, harness and leash. The Erie County Department of Health asks that you avoid using retractable, extended dog leashes; however, if you are using one, make sure it is no longer than 4 feet.

Also, if possible, bring a copy of your pet’s vaccination record.

Be sure to contact your veterinarian for vaccination information and for any questions you have regarding your pets.
