BUFFALO, N.Y. - Erie Community College President Jack F. Quinn Jr. is set to retire in June 2017, after commencement, the school announced in a news release.
ECC also announced it will form a new search committee to replace Quinn.
Quinn, who was a U.S. Congressman from 1993-2005, has been at ECC since 2008.
Quinn said, "I've had a great career in public service and I'm proud of what I've done serving the people and the students of Western New York. I'm going out on a high note and I'm pleased with ECC's progress."
According to Board of Trustees Chair Dennis Murphy, the board will meet later this week to put together a 10-month transition plan and create the search committee that will include ECC professors, faculty, students, staff and unions, Erie County leaders and SUNY educational leaders.
Murphy said the school's goal is to have a new president in place a year from now.
