TOWN OF MINA, NY — A 22-year-old Jametown man is facing driving-while-intoxicated charges after an accident sent his passenger to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office.
The incident happened at about 3:16 Sunday morning.
Deputies say the driver was traveling eastbound on Rt. 430 when he lost control of the vehicle struck several trees and overturned the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries in the accident. The victim was taken by ambulance to Hamot Medical Center for treatment.
The driver, identified as Christopher R. Jones, 22, was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a blood-alcohol-content of .18 percent or greater, first-degree felony vehicular assault and failing to keep right.
Jones was taken into custody and later arraigned in Town of Sherman Court. He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
He will appear back in court at a later date.
