BUFFALO, NY – Another crane has appeared outside the Buffalo Museum of Science, conspicuous to passing motorists along the busy Kensington Expressway.

However, any supposition that the crane is about to install the historic Lundin telescope, which has been undergoing refurbishment in Pennsylvania, would be incorrect according to the museum.

The crane is being used to install structural support beams as part of the ongoing makeover of the Kellogg Observatory, in which the telescope will be housed, according to Andrea Gallagher, the museum’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations.

When a new observatory dome was installed by crane back in August, museum officials said they expected the telescope to arrive sometime in early 2018, so that the observatory could be re-opened in the spring of that year.

According to Gallagher, they are still on track with that plan.

“We’ll have a better handle on a precise timetable for the re-opening after the New Year," Gallagher said.
