CHEEKTOWAGA, NY - Chick-fil-A has submitted paperwork to locate a franchise at 1753 Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga, according to a member of the town council who has reviewed the documents.

The company plans to demolish the current Famous Dave's site, which sits only about a half-mile from the Walden Galleria. Councilman Jim Rogowski said the town's Environmental Advisory Committee will address Chick-fil-A's plans at a meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

Rogowski said he expects the proposal to enjoy broad support from town agencies responsible for approval, including the town council.

"There are no homes in this area. This is a retail commercial restaurant area," Rogowski said. "I think they will go right through, and I think -- I know -- that Chick Fil A will open its first restaurant in the town of Cheektowaga."

Chick-fil-A's spokesperson said she could not offer any additional comment about the potential location.

It's unclear how quickly the process will move from here, but the company filed the application with the town late last week, shortly after announcing a Western New York location would open at some point in 2018 or 2019.
