BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A driver was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after running into the Cloud 9 Limousine Services building on Kensington Avenue, Buffalo Police say.

It is believed the driver lost control as he was traveling down Kensington Avenue near Poultney Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a medical issue may have caused the man to lose control.

First he struck a fire hydrant that went flying around 100 feet, crashing into a van, Buffalo Fire Department officials said at the scene.

The car then hit a truck parked in the building's driveway before crashing into the building itself.

Those in the building were asked to take shelter in place until officials could get them out a back door.

National Grid and the building inspector were both notified.

The incident is still being investigated. Police have not said if any charges were involved.
