BUFFALO, NY - New York State Assemblyman Sean Ryan will formally announce today that he has secured $600,000 in state funding to restore a historic carousel destined for Canalside Buffalo.

The 1924 Spillman Engineering Park Style Menagerie Carousel was built by the Allan Herschell Company in North Tonawanda, and purchased by Domenick De Angelis in 1924. It has been in storage for more than 60 years following De Angelis's death in 1952. It is currently at Carousel Works in Mansfield, Ohio, where it will go through an 18-month restoration process.

Buffalo Heritage Carousel Inc., who is sponsoring the carousel, secured a $250,000 grant from the The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation to buy the attraction; which is expected to be installed at Canalside in 2017.
