ECHDC Releases Outer Harbor Plans

Western New Yorkers are reacting to the latest proposals for Buffalo's Outer Harbor after residents had a chance to look at renderings during an open house Monday evening.

BUFFALO, NY - Western New Yorkers are reacting to the latest proposals for Buffalo's Outer Harbor after residents had a chance to look at renderings during an open house Monday evening.

This was the second open house regarding harbor plans held by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC), with proposals for three areas: First Buffalo River Marina, Wilkeson Pointe to the Bell Slip, and Terminal B. Some options for those areas included a boardwalk across the harbor from Canalside, bridges, a park and a pier further down the lakeshore side, and more.

“The options presented today build upon and complement recent state investments in Buffalo Harbor State Park and the Queen City Bike Ferry, as well as the cycling and pedestrian trails, overlooks and Great Lawn now under construction on the Outer Harbor," says ECHDC Chairman Robert Gioia.

Those in charge of Harbor development will now work with consultants to provide an updated proposal to present next spring.

If you didn't make it to the open house, you can take the survey online here, to give your input.

The ECHDC has provided a map to view areas that will see improvements. You can view that below:
