BUFFALO, NY-- Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and his wife, Michelle, departed from the Buffalo-Niagara International airport Wednesday morning on their way to Washington, D.C.

The pair have been invited personally by President and Mrs. Obama for their last White House Holiday reception.

Mayor Brown says it's a bittersweet opportunity to not only thank the President for his time in office, but also to be recognized for the progress made in the Queen City.

"It certainly is an honor to be invited to the White House. And certainly even more of an honor to be recognized for some of the great things that are happening here in the City of Buffalo," said Brown.

Brown's most recent trip to the White House was on November 14, when a small group of mayors was praised by the First Lady for their efforts to provide housing for homeless veterans.
