BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo's bravest pulled off an unusual rescue at a fire on the East Side Tuesday.

No one but a family ferret was home when the fire started Tuesday morning at 532 Hewitt Avenue - but crews did manage to get the ferret out of the home and give it some oxygen with the special mask they carry for animals.

No one at the scene was injured, and the ferret is okay.

A fire truck heading to the home Tueday morning did get in a crash at Amherst and Parkridge, though. Four firefighters and three people in the other car went to the hospital to be checked out.
