STAFFORD, NY — The Genesee Co. Sheriff's office says blowing snow and poor road conditions are partly to blame for a Friday morning crash that killed a Batavia man.
They say Thomas Manzella, 24, was heading west on Rt. 5 in Stafford shortly before 6:30 a.m. when the pickup truck he was driving slid sideways and crossed into the eastbound lane, right into the path of an on-coming container truck.
The driver of the container truck, Curtiss Mallory, 32, of Buffalo called 9-1-1 immediately. Manzella was rushed to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia where he died from his injuries.
