Another very small quake was felt in the region this morning.

A magnitude 2.5 earthquake occurred under Lake Ontario just off Olcott, New York. A quake this small is almost impossible to feel. To put this into some perspective, a quake to be felt over a wide area would need to be about 10 times stronger. Nevertheless, this is the second earthquake in the region in the past week.

Small earthquakes are not uncommon in this region as there are a series of faults underlying both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
