LOCKPORT, NY — A host of golfers took to the greens Saturday to honor the memory of a Flight 3407 victim.
The 8th annual John J Fiore Memorial Golf Tournament took place at the Willowbrook Country Club, which is recognizes Fiore, one of 50 who died in the tragic plane crash.
Family members say the golf tournament the event is a way to honor his memory, as well as raise money for a charitable cause.
"My uncle was very into charitable organizations, especially children's foundations," said Ron Ottman, Fiore's nephew. "So, we decided that Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful cause, and for 8 years it's been a wonderful partnership."
This year's tournament featured 54 teams of golfers.
The tournament has raised over a quarter million dollars in its first seven years, including over $21,000 just last year.
