CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- The smells and tastes of homemade soup on a cool Sunday, and a celebration of Polish traditions, drew crowd to the 3rd annual "Zupapalooza" in Cheektowaga.
The Polish Soup Festival was held at the Private Leonard Post on Walden Ave.
The Polish American Congress, Western New York Division (PACWNY) organized the event. Organizations that make up PACWNY prepared the featured soups, including The Polish Heritage Dancers and the Polish Legacy Project.
Event organizers say it was created as a way to bring the area's rich Polish community together.

"My idea was we all do our own little events throughout the year, but we don't do one big event where we all come together as one Polish American Congress family and do something together," said organizer and PACWNY President Jim Lawicki.
This year, event judges decided to give the "Golden Ladle Award" to a Golumpki soup. 2 On Your Side's Kelly Dudzik was one of the judges who helped make the call.
