BUFFALO, NY - Potato lovers' dreams will come true at Allen Street Poutine Company this weekend, as the only poutine joint in WNY holds its third annual Poutine Eating Contest.

This Saturday, competitors will have five minutes to down as many fries, smothered in gravy and cheese curds, as they can.

The winner will receive a cash prize and the "coveted" golden potato trophy.

Sound up your alley? If you want to compete, you can register in person at Allen Street Poutine, located at 242 Allen Street, for $20.

Co-owner of the restaurant, Jake Fraser, said, "We hold this contest annually in February, during Quebec, Canada's 'La Poutine Week' - where poutine was invented. Our 2016 contest winner, Luis Vazquez consumed more than three pounds of poutine in five minutes."

If you think you can beat that record, or just want to watch, the contest starts at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

You can find out more about the contest, and the restaurant, at eatpoutine.com.
