HAMBURG, NY — The Hamburg Fairgrounds area was among the hardest hit by Thursday's storm.

According to Hamburg Gaming, 150 people took shelter in the Grange Building at the fairgrounds and nobody was seriously hurt.

While it hasn't officially been deemed a tornado, strong winds severed a gas line on the roof, causing the evacuation of all patrons and employees.

80 percent of the vehicles in the fairgrounds parking lot had window damage, according to officials.

Hamburg Gaming will remain closed Thursday and hopes to reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.
