Trouble in Toyland: Report lists toy dangers

While you're going through your Christmas shopping over the next month, safety advocates have some toys they think you should avoid.

BUFFALO, NY-- While you're going through your Christmas shopping over the next month, safety advocates have some toys they think you should avoid.

The New York chapter of the Public Interest Research Group put out its annual "Trouble in Toyland" report warning people about toys with things unlabeled choking hazards or lead.

REPORT: NYPIRG Toy Safety Report

That includes some fidget spinners sold at Target that have 330 times the federal limit for lead.

"Now the manufacturers argue that this is not a children's toy, because it does have a 14 and up label. But we disagree. We believe that we've seen many children under the age of 14 playing with fidget spinners and it's going to be very possible if the older sibling purchases this toy and the younger sibling can get a hold of it," says Wesley Thomas, WNY Regional Coordinator for NYPIRG.

Another warning was for the "My Friend Cayla" doll that's been banned in Germany for privacy violations, because it record's children's speech and can send it to the internet.
