HAMBURG, N.Y. -- Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced the last major county road project for the fall.

Crews began work Thursday re-paving a 1.9 mile stretch of Old Lakeshore Road in Hamburg.

Poloncarz says more than 4,000 cars a day travel the stretch of Old Lakeshore Road from Route 5 to Lakeview Road, and it's been in major need of repairs.

"We have a system that's done by the greater Buffalo Niagara regional transportation council in which they rate roads on a scale of one to ten, one being the worst, ten being the best," said Poloncarz. "This road in many parts is rated a four. It is actually one of the lowest rated roads of its type in Erie County."

Work is expected be completed by the end of next week.
