High schoolers compete in tech competition

Local high school students had the opportunity to compete in NFADA's annual Ron Smith Memorial AutoTech Competition on Saturday.

BUFFALO, NY - Local high schoolers had an exciting opportunity to compete in a tech competition this weekend.

The Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association (NFADA) and Erie Community College hosted the 2018 Ron Smith Memorial AutoTech Competition Saturday - an annual competition to help educate and train the automotive technicians of the future and provide careers for them right here in WNY.

Participants from local technical high schools put their automotive diagnostic and trouble shooting skills to the test at the ECC Vehicle Technology Training Center in Orchard Park.

Using equipment and vehicles from Ford, they handled various performance and repair issues and also competed on the ability to dismount and then mount vehicle tires.

The overall goal of the competition is to provide career opportunities and a stable workforce for members of NFADA.
