BUFFALO, NY-- Canisius College announced for the 2018-19 school year, it's lowering the cost of undergraduate tuition to 2008 levels.

That means it will go from almost $35,000 this year to $27,000 that's almost a 23% drop.

Leaders there say some prospective students are turned off by high tuition costs and that the new price is closer to what students pay right now once you figure in financial aid.

"Fifty five percent of families don't even consider a private college because they just assume it's too expensive. So Canisius is in the position of being crossed off the list of many prospective students before we even have the chance to demonstrate how we might make our education affordable and accessible," says Canisius College President John Hurley.

The school also announced housing costs will also be reduced.
