Buffalo schools to reevaluate plans in wake of Florida shooting

BUFFALO, NY — In the wake of Wednesday afternoon's Florida high school shooting, the Buffalo Public School Board said school shootings nationwide force them to reevaluate their existing plans.

"Unfortunately with tragedy, you have to turn it around. We have to take lessons and learn from those lessons and bring that to our world and say what we can do better," said Dr. Kevin Eperle, chief operating officer of Buffalo Public Schools.

Districts across New York are now required to have at least four active shooter drills every school year.

The board held a moment of silence before their meeting to honor the victims.
