BUFFALO, N.Y.-- The Buffalo Bisons on Friday, as part of a combined effort with Say Yes Buffalo, are helping to give a boost to students facing homelessness and extreme poverty as they prepare for college.
And they’re rewarding Bisons' fans for helping.
During Sunday’s 1:05 game against the Louisville Bats, the Bisons will host in part the Say Yes Dorm Room Drive, encouraging fans to being everything from basic school supplies like pencils and notebooks, to bedding and basic toiletries.
Reverend Rachelle Robinson, one of the Directors at Say Yes, said that numerous studies prove some of these basic essentials can go a long way in preparing a student to start their semester on the best foot possible.
“We've heard so much about the needs of our young people, and it’s up to us, Buffalonians, to step up and do all that we can to help them succeed,” said Robinson. “It's not only about paying for education, but its also about the needs that they have that we might not have thought about."
Here is a full list of items requested for the Dorm Drive:
-Laundry Kit: laundry soap, hangars, fabric softener, laundry bag, and laundry basket
